Ogden Theatre

<a href="http://www.nipp.com/venue/detail/ogden-theatre">Ogden Theatre</a>

The Ogden Theatre was built in 1919 by the same designer of the Bluebird Theater. The Ogden Theatre origianally hosted live performances such as weekly organ recitals, dances, lectures and vaudeville acts - most notably, the legendary Harry Houdini. By 1937 it had been converted to a movie theater featuring the classics to the avant garde and in the '80's featuring the cult movie classic, the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Bluebird Theater

http://www.bluebirdtheater.net/

Opened in 1913 as a small movie house, this theater survived various incarnations, including a long stint as a porn house, before closing in the 1970s. In 1994 it was refurbished and restored but still retains its image as a gritty survivor in a rough neighborhood. The three-tiered theater now serves as a multi-purpose venue hosting a diverse group of national acts, emerging recording artists, and the hottest local bands. On occasions the Bluebird still doubles as a movie hall, showing cult...

Gothic Theatre

<a href="http://www.nipp.com/venue/detail/gothic-theatre">Gothic Theater</a>

The History of the glorious Gothic Theatre began in the roaring Twenties when magnificent movie palaces were the center of entertainment in society. The theatre’s grand art deco style awed the thousands of Denver residents who came to view the classic movies of the period. Its importance to the area may never be fully understood by those who were not there at the time. Generations of families spent hours of their lives within the theatre’s famous walls dreaming, laughing, crying, being entertained, and most importantly,

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

http://www.redrocksonline.com

Nestled in the Rocky Mountain Foothills fifteen miles west of Denver, there stands a symbol of nature's unparalleled majesty. Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air Amphitheatre that is not duplicated anywhere in the world. With Mother Nature as the architect, the design of the Amphitheatre consists of two, three hundred-foot monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock) that provide acoustic perfection for any performance.

Fillmore Auditorium

<a href="http://www.fillmoreauditorium.com/">Fillmore Auditorium</a>

The Fillmore Auditorium is an auditorium located on Colfax Avenue and Clarkson Street in Denver, Colorado, United States. Founded in 1999, it is used for performances of live music. It is named after The Fillmore, a famous establishment in San Francisco.

The building opened in 1907 as a skating rink, serving several different functions over the decades following. In 1969, it was bought by Stuart Green, with the intent of "emulating Bill Graham’s Fillmore". Under the name Mammoth Gardens, the venue hosted such powerful names as The Who and The Grateful Dead, but it was closed in October 1970. By the 1990s, it was operating as the Mammoth Events Center, hosting a mix of public and private functions. Finally, under new ownership, it was renovated and reopened as The Fillmore Auditorium in 1999.

Larimer Lounge

http://www.larimerlounge.com/

The Larimer Lounge first started as a concept amongst a group of music loving friends attending the University of Colorado at Boulder in the early 90’s. It was obvious at the time that there was no one catch-all club attempting to bring in all the different elements of the burgeoning independent rock scene that was going on in the country at that point in time. One case in point – when a friend wrote a letter to the amazing northwest based band Seaweed saying they should come play Denver sometime, the letter writer later received a phone call from the bands agent asking for help trying to find a show in Denver.

The Marquis Theater

Recently remodeled The Marquis is a great place to catch a show and eat a piece of fantastic pizza. The acoustics are great throughout the small club and it's usually pretty easy to navigate between the bar, the stage and the bathroom.

Being smaller than most of the other venues in Denver but still bringing in some pretty big names allows one to catch their favorite artist in a very personal setting.

Located a block or two east of Coors Field in LoDo provides for a safe atmosphere when returning to your car after the show or walking to the next bar.

El Chapultepec

El Chapultepec, at first glance, is just another aging dive bar serving up traditional Mexican tastes on paper plates in downtown. But even though the great green chili draws plenty of patrons, it is the jazz performances that hold prominence in this place. Local as well as some national legends crowd into the small dining room filled with tacky vinyl booths and play just about every night of the year. Since the LoDo revitalization, this has become a trendy nightspot, so expect a big crowd. (This is a cash only establishment.)

Monkey Mania

Want to experience life? Go to Monkey Mania. Monkey Mania is an unheated warehouse/loft rented out by a new group of vagrants every few months with one mission: To put on crazy fucking shows.

There are no guarantees. Sometimes there is a cover and free beer, sometimes not. Sometimes you go to see one of the artists posted on the poorly updated website and you arrive only to find a bunch of crazy ravers or maybe nothing at all.

Best of all, sometimes you arrive to find hundreds of people packing the old warehouse and you've got to push though to find a spot where you can jump or dance to your favorite songs without stepping through a hole in the floor.

Monkey Mania is chaos at its best.

Club 156

While Club 156 may not be in Denver it is certainly one of the best places to see your favorite artist in Colorado. New remodeled, this extremely personal venue, located inside "The Connection" which is part of CU Boulder's UMC, will only hold 156 people. The difference in height between stage and floor is only 24 inches and there is no barrier which allows you to get as close to the performance as you'd like.
