I'm one of the cofounders of Pretheory, LLC and one of the co-creators of Seekler. My professional interests are programming languages (Ruby in particular), testing, and automated verification. In my spare time, I like to read comics, play basketball (badly) and snowboard (reasonably well).

Ice Skating
Ice skating with your date is good idea - it's active, you get to hold hands, and it reminds you both of the hundreds of romantic movie scenes that happen on ice rinks.
horse-drawn ride
If it's cold where you are, consider a carriage ride. It's an opportunity to take in the city while staying warmer than you would be if walking around.
Bed and Breakfast
This is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it. Especially if you and your girlfriend/boyfriend don't live together, getting away and just treating yourself to a night in a bed and breakfast and can be a lot of fun.
Romantic Dinner and a Movie
Going out is always fun, and there's a reason that 'dinner and a movie' is a sure-fire date. A dinner out makes you feel sophisticated and gives you a chance to chat. And going out to a movie (especially a romantic one) is always a fun treat.
Reserve your spot at a special restaurant
This doesn't have to be an expensive or fancy restaurant - you can pick something that has special significance just for you two of you. For example - the place you had your first date. This can be a great way to have a romantic walk down memory lane without breaking your budget.
